FAQs
You can’t learn this great team game in a day or two. We cover all aspects of the game to include batting, bowling, fielding, umpiring signals, field placings etc etc. Plus, with games constantly being played at all levels on the cricket square & our all weather artificial wicket, they learn that incredibly difficult but rewarding skill, the art of captaincy.
We are well aware we offered individual days on our February half term, May half term & Easter courses. These were exceptional circumstances with lockdown restrictions being eased/re introduced & people’s travel plans constantly thrown into disarray. With flights etc being delayed/cancelled, often at the last minute, our allowing of individual days was a great success. Many times parents booked at midnight for the following day – sometimes Peter would get a call at half nine in the morning!
So, we return to our tried & trusted formula of weekly courses that has served us well for over 20 years. The kids of all ages (& of course the coaching team) will enjoy it so much more.
Send your child in with a packed lunch & plenty of drinks. There are numerous drinking fountains around the site for topping up water bottles etc.
Juniors & ‘first timers’ should bring a light wooden or plastic bat plus some tennis balls and/or a couple of the orange Windballs.
Older kids must bring their own (wooden) bat plus a couple of Windballs & Incrediballs. (The heavier, rubber ball with stitching that looks like a real cricket ball).
For more senior players & kids that are wanting to get used to facing the proper cricket ball, they will need all the correct batting equipment. This includes a wooden bat, helmet, gloves, pads & a protective box. Note too that they all must be wearing the correct batting ‘box pants’ that keep the protective box in place.
Many kids like to wear cricket whites, but it isn’t essential. Any form of sports clothing is fine.
Yes. All of Peter’s coaching team are ECB qualified & always hold a current DBS Certificate.
We teach every aspect of the game to include batting, bowling & fielding. But we also include umpiring, scoring, fielding positions & that wonderfully challenging skill, the art of captaincy.
Skills being learnt such as correctly throwing, stopping & catching a ball really help with agility & balance & are incredibly useful in other sports.
Of course. We cater for all abilities from absolute beginners(of all ages) to established school, club & county players.
All children are carefully grouped according to age, size & ability.
Never a problem. On all of Peter’s courses, new friends are quickly made & everyone receives a warm welcome from the entire coaching team. No child is ever on their own. No child ever sits on their own at lunchtime (even if they want to, Peter won’t let them!)
Peter regularly stresses the importance of fitness and healthy eating. But our one weekly treat is CHIPS ON FRIDAYS. The children bring in the right money for a bag of chips, the money is counted (usually by one of our top 7 year old accountants) and the order rung through to the chip shop. This is something done on a whim many moons ago and was a huge success. It has become a weekly tradition ever since and is simply just a bit of fun.
Peter and his coaching team have established close relationships with many Clubs in and around North London and Hertfordshire. If you are thinking of joining a Club for the first time, we can help steer you in the right direction to a club most suited to your child. We also provide contact names and numbers, registration dates, practise nights, etc.
Our indoor facilities allow us to play cricket non-stop throughout the year. On many other cricket courses, if it rains, the kids sit inside clubhouses watching DVDs or doing quizzes. This never happens with us! As our motto says “WHATEVER THE WEATHER, IT’S NON-STOP CRICKET”!
If a course is sold out, it will be clearly shown on the home page of the website and the booking system will not allow you to book.
In over 20 years of running our courses, we have never had to cancel a course due to lack of numbers or bad weather.
Just as you are about to board the train to work, you will never get the dreaded text ‘Apologies, but due to the bad weather………
Sorry, no. Since our very first course, we have always tried to keep our booking system as simple as possible. That also means we have tried to offer as best value as possible, with our price rise last year being the first for 10 years despite multiple courses being sold out.
